Land Survey Technician-San Jose, CA
Compensation: Depending on Experience (competitive), and full benefits
Employment type: Full-time starting ASAP
Underwood & Rosenblum, Inc. in San Jose, California is looking for an active, motivated, quick learner for a permanent, full-time position as a Land Survey Technician in our dynamic 40-year-old, medium-sized, non-union, Civil Engineering firm.
During this COVID crisis, we did not lay off or furlough anyone. We never cut hours during winter. We don’t send you home because of rain. We have plenty of work, a great working environment (home or the office during the pandemic), and if you’re good at what you do, you will have a job for as long as you want. The 6 surveyors (2 LS + 4 Techs) here have over 80 years combined surveying experience, in addition to the Principal who has 30+ years as a surveyor and civil engineer. This is a place without much turnover for good reason.
We are looking for someone with 4 years working as a land surveying technician with topographic and (preferably) boundary surveying experience. An LSIT certificate, and AutoCAD skills are also very much preferred, but not a disqualifier if you don’t have them. We would also prefer someone that has worked on their own survey projects in the field as we run 1-person crews mostly. If you have all that experience, GREAT! If you don’t, we can work with the right candidate.
We have a unique working experience here at Underwood & Rosenblum. All the surveyors are trained to do everything needed for office and field work in the field of surveying. You will not be pigeon-holed into one specific, boring job. The job will be a mix of field and office work. If you want to learn it, we will teach it to you. Before long (depending on experience and skills), you will be running your own projects from start to finish, including the drafting!

Be able to pass a fingerprint and background check as needed;
Be able to perform strenuous physical activities for an extended period of time;
Be willing to take job-related classes and study as needed on your own time;
Be looking at or committed to Land Surveying as a career.
