If I recall correctly, Mr. Pavlik passed away not long after posting that message in 2017.

There are several chapters that sponsor LS review class series. Sacramento in the North, Orange in the South. I'm sure there are others, but don't know for certain which. I'm don't know if any include a practice exam as part of the program, but it would be a good part of a review series.

There may be other chapters that are also sponsoring review classes. East Bay usually does, but cancelled (for the 2nd year in a row) due to lack of interest. I don't know if that means there aren't many who are interested in attaining their license or if the exams are getting so easy that the classes aren't needed for most to pass.

Contact your local chapter to find the nearest offered review.

The San Diego CLSA Chapter LS Review started in December. Thursday nights 6:30 PM to 9:00 PM. 4050 Taylor Street. https://www.sd-surveyors.org/education

All instructors should keep in mind that the exam formats have probably changed from back when we had to chisel our answers into stone tablets. The FS, PS and PLS exams are presented using computer-based testing (CBT). The "take home exam" is still paper based testing (PBT). The pass rates, fortunately and unfortunately, have not skyrocketed as a result of the switch to CBT. Several sample CBTs are available for the CA PLS under the EXAMS tab on the BPELSG website https://www.bpelsg.ca.gov/applicants/exam.shtml.

I believe the California State Specific PLS exam is still all traditional multiple-choice questions, but it is expected to include alternative item types (AITs) in the near future. The California State Specific PLS exam test plan can be found at the following link: https://www.bpelsg.ca.gov/applicants/ls_test_plan.pdf

The NCEES FS and PS exams contain alternative item types (AITs). AITs are questions other than traditional multiple-choice questions. Exam Specifications for the NCEES PS exam are at this link:
https://ncees.org/wp-content/uploads/PS-Jan2019_CBT_final.pdf
Additional details: https://ncees.org/surveying/ps/

The FS Exam will change at the end of June, 2020. Both Exam Specifications for the NCEES FS exam are currently posted:
