About us. We are SHN, a consulting services firm headquartered in Humboldt County. We are approaching our 40th year assisting small rural communities, private developers, tribal governments, and construction and architectural firms. We are in an exciting phase of transition and growth, allowing us to pursue new technologies such as unmanned aerial services (“drones”) and geospatial information technologies. Projects are unique (a decommissioned nuclear power plant on the California coast), rugged and remote (county bridges on the Lost Coast), and ecologically beneficial (land conservation assistance).

The job. This position requires licensing as a Professional Licensed Surveyor, and the ability to work collaboratively with a team of five PLSs and their survey technicians. Occasional travel to our regional offices in Willits, Redding, Coos Bay, and Klamath Falls will be necessary. Your co-workers will also include civil and environmental engineers, geologists, environmental planners and scientists, wildlife biologists and botanists. Support will come from a team of CAD and GIS specialists, field technicians, and administrative and marketing assistants.
